The Gunvault MV500-STD Microvault Pistol Gun Safe is a very popular model with many positive customer reviews.
This is not the perfect safe for every customer, but for individuals who are looking for simple firearms safe for one pistol or revolver, they are going to like what this has to offer. This is not one of those big safes to place a half dozen rifles, shotguns, or other types of long guns.
This is not a small office safe that can be tucked into the wall. It’s a small and simple (but amazingly effective) pistol safe designed to hold one handgun, a few clips, and a knife effectively.
It’s also a great nightstand gun safe or car gun safe because it takes up very little room, is easy to transport, and is a fast, easy-open safe for your weapon.

The Gunvault MV500 Pistol Gun Safe
There are hundreds of positive reviews of this safe online. Most felt that it made a great vehicle gun safe.
Some owners claim it can hold two handguns. This depends, of course, on what type of handguns you have. Most could only fit one.
Consumers thought this was ideal for the person who wants to have a pistol close by for home protection.
One customer said they did a vibration test on the safe, and it failed. Others tried the same experiment and did not have the same problem.
Some customers bought this for the main reason that they traveled to a lot of wilderness or dangerous/isolated areas and wanted to be able to carry a portable firearm with them.
They liked that it can move easily in any car or truck. They were perfect for storing a concealed weapon in a vehicle before entering a federal building, or another building where carrying covered is not allowed.
They stated it was a much better form of securing a firearm than just shoving a pistol loosely under a seat or in the glove box.
Reviewers said the MV500 serves its purpose, is very well constructed, and the overall consumer feedback garnered from multiple sites, including big retail sites, show that this gun safe satisfies the needs of its owners.
Detailed Product Specifications
The Gunvault MV500 Pistol Safe has a push-button combination lock using your finger pads.
You can enter an almost unlimited number of combinations, 12 million to be exact, to make sure no one can just “guess” the combination.
The placement design of the finger pads makes it easy to open whether your room is completely lit or whether it is completely pitch black dark. You simply push the buttons in the sequence of your code.
Also, there is a lock-down feature if someone attempts to break into the safe. After a set number of wrong keypad entries, the safe will block access until an override key is used (which will be in your possession.) This prevents people from consistently trying one code after another to get into the safe.
The GunVault MV500-STD comes with two backup override keys and a tamper alert to allow the owner to know when it appears multiple attempts have been made to break in or if someone has tried to pry it open. If that happens, you’ll get a red light and a tone.
This extra security feature alerts you when someone, like a child, has been making some attempts to get into your Gunvault MV500.
When you enter your combination, the buttons will beep, but this can be put in stealth/silence mode, so no one will know you are getting your gun.
The construction of this safe includes precise fittings, so there is no space to insert a prying tool, which makes it very difficult to break into this safe. It’s not impossible, just difficult. I’m sure if a thief tires all the wrenches, screwdrivers, and other tools he has, he might just get into this safe.
A 9-volt battery powers the GunVault. If the battery should die, you have two backup keys to get back into your safe. And, if you have to replace the battery, the safe will still remember your combination, and you won’t have to reprogram the unit.
The battery life is about two years, but I recommend you check it each year when you check your smoke detectors. When you press a combination button, you will hear a chirp and know that the battery is low.
The Gunvault MV500 is constructed out of 16 gauge steel and features a high strength lock to prevent break-ins.
This is not a fire or flood rated safe. It’s just meant to lock your weapon and give you easy access when you need it.
If you’re looking for an office safe to put in important documents and similar items or someplace to lock up all of your hunting guns, then this is not the best model for you.
However, when it comes to the safe storage of one pistol or revolver that can then be easily accessed only by the owner, then this is exactly the type of safe that you should be looking for.
